We The People-So Far Behind We Think We’re In Front

I have come to the conclusion that too many people would rather talk about old people than listen to one.  That people are more interested in talking about disabled people than listen to the opinions of one.  And especially, that far more people are are interested in finding ways to blame the right for the plight of poor people in this country than in hearing what’s really wrong from… well, from a poor person.

Even among the so call leading lights of the left on the social networks, far too many of those “lights” are way too busy making sure they improve or at least maintain their little spot in the pecking order of online mini-pundits than in being forced to admit that the people actually suffering through what they can only speculate on might have a valid opinion or two even if it disagrees with theirs.

indexFor an example, you can happen upon a Twitter thread involving four or ten people gushing over the Affordable Care Act (there are dozens of them every day) and acting as if PBO was the ultimate savior of humanity for having achieved it, yadayada.  And you can say something like “I have mixed feelings about it since I’ve actually LOST medical coverage over the past few years to help finance it” or whatever and, just like poor old Arlo in the police station in Alice’s Restaurant, “They all move away from you on the bench there.” because nobody wants to hear that their hero might not be perfect and that his “signature” piece of “landmark” legislation might have a few holes in it and left a few people… or even more than a few… behind with less coverage than before and, even more significant, less coverage at a higher price than the ACA provides to all those newly insured folks who were standing in line to be part of the historic occasion.

Me… I tend to look at all the compromises and giveaways and the stuff that was taken off the table before anyone had ever sat down, as losses, pure and simple.  You don’t win when you give your opponent 98% of what he wants before he even has to come to the table and then don’t get anything back.  There was never anything that made any sense in terms of actual “reform” other than universal single payer… just like all the other developed countries have… and to take it off the table without firing a shot and require nothing from the Republicans in return was… not so much a mistake but a signal to some of us that this was going to be yet another example of style over substance and political theater that in the end simply pitted one group of us against another with any gains for one requiring “offsets” from the other in order to make it at least appear to work.

Just like the “financial reform” that was introduced by the administration back about 2010 when they said beforehand that they wouldn’t be breaking up any of the offending institutions that “had” to be bailed out because they were “too big to fail” nor would any of the CEOs and other execs of any of thosemagic_dees banks and other institutions face prosecution for their part in the financial destruction of the country and that they would be free to go right on doing what they were doing with the addition of almost a trillion taxpayer dollars with which to invest in high yield schemes that made billions for their companies and millions for their top executives and institutional shareholders.  Yeah sure, most of them supposedly paid back the bailout loans, but only after having received billions in return on investment on monies that were supposed to be used to make banks safe for the public to walk into again.  If we’d had any balls, most of those profits would have gone into the treasury to pay for their next round of thievery which is already looming on the horizon.

BankstersWhat happened when our government finally had to admit that many of the same companies that were being subsidized by the taxpayers with bailout loans were not only still paying their CEOS and other honchos hundreds of times more than the average working stiff makes but instead of using them to make loans available to consumers were investing them and then offshoring the bloated profits they were making on them in order to avoid paying taxes?  Why, we punished the person who brought it to light of course.  That’s what this administration may perhaps be noted most for when history passes judgment in the light of hindsight.  They were more apt to punish or help marginalize the people who exposed criminal actions than to prosecute those committing them.

071113_revolving-door3Many of the prime time players in the machinations that ultimately brought this country down… far from getting what they actually deserve for doing so…  have been placed in positions of oversight over the very industries they served and as soon as they were done playing fearless leader, went right back to the those same industries which were in many casesGraph1 bolstered financially by the actions of these people with the added fillip of them having been paid by the very people whose interests they were working against…  Not a damned one of them has ever been called to account unless you want to count those mini-circus “hearings” for people like Jamie Dimon who basically told the people of the United States to go get screwed or Lloyd Blankfein who claimed to be doing “God’s work” by helping force more than half% of the population into abject poverty and scaring the water out of the middle class.

I’m sorry people, I’m neither happy nor satisfied when the President of the United States looks me in the eye… during an election campaign of course… and says he’s finally gonna get me piece of the pie that I’ve paid for and spent 47 years helping to bake only to find out later that Wall Street had been allowed to ship the pie to China again.  I didn’t like it when Reagan and the Bushes did it, I didn’t like it when Clinton did it and I don’t like it now, ESPECIALLY with the administration pushing TPP and on second thought, I’m NOT sorry for being pissed off about it.

The fact is that for many of us who are unfortunate enough to be considered part of the “lower” classes, things are simply worse than they were six years ago.  If you, in your so far secure little middle class niche,  can’t or won’t understand that then let’s just say your little nest in the 99% is obviously way farther up the food chain than mine is.

21448_cartoon_main You can blame it on the Republicans or the Tea Party all you want and yes they are hugely significant… hell, even the MOST significant… factors in what has gone on for six years but if they hadn’t existed Wall Street would have had to invent someone or something else just like them to do their job.  For once, just be objective enough to ask yourselves… if we had been going to see any real and meaningful reform in any of this.., why were and are there so many financial industry and global conglomerate CEOs, execs, lobbyists and such in the mid to highest levels of this administration and why are the institutions and individuals that have all but destroyed the “American Dream” for all but a tiny little fraction of the population still free to go right on doing it with the only really visible consequence that any of them might suffer as this shakes out being that the health insurance industry might only make five billion in profits this year instead of six?

I’m old and maybe not quite as sharp as some of you or even as sharp as I myself might have horese traderonce been but dammit even I can still recognize a wind broke horse when I see one.  I never bought one back in my horsey days and I’m not buying one now.  You can have freedom or you can have unbridled capitalism but there’s no way you’re gonna get both.

CarsYou keep electing leaders solely on party affiliation or… worse yet… on your perception of a candidate’s personality… like you’re buying a used car or aluminum siding based on how slick the patter and how brightly the salesman’s teeth flash when he smiles at you… and you’re gonna deserve exactly what you get.  Unfortunately, your kids and grandkids won’t and that’s who’s going to pay the ultimate price.  I’ve been saying it ever since I realized that “Cowboy” George W. Bush was nothing but a damned Connecticut goat roper and and I’m sticking to it, at least for the foreseeable future.

Personality Types and Politics

In preparation for a post on how our our basic personalities constitute the basic controlling factor in regard to the position in which we are most likely to wind up on our “political spectrum”, I was doing a little research on some of the various quirks and traits that help to define an individual persona as pertains to a person’s core belief system and I came across the following definition of a narcissist at one of my favorite encyclopedia/dictionary sites:

Narcissism is the pattern of traits and behaviors which involve infatuation and obsession with one’s self to the exclusion of others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one’s gratification, dominance and ambition.

On the outside, a narcissist appears to have higher than average self-esteem. Paradoxically, the narcissist’s self-esteem is [actually] lower. For the narcissist, self-worth comes from the belief that he/she is superior to his/her peers; it is not enough to be “okay” or “pretty good,” the narcissist can only feel worthwhile by being the best. It is this struggle of the narcissist to convince others of his/her superiority that results in the outward appearance of high self-esteem, and the inadequacy that the narcissist feels from not being the absolute best that results in the narcissist’s [actual] low self esteem. In addition to fragile, exaggerated self-esteem, narcissists are also characterized by a lack of empathy, that is, a lack of sensitivity to the feelings of others. These traits are present in most people to some degree but severe narcissism may warrant a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder.

So of course, the next step was to look up  this narcissistic personality disorder.  Interesting findings there too.  Fore example:

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder that is characterized by extreme feelings of self-importance, a high need for admiration, and a lack of empathy. NPD can be considered as a pathological form of narcissism. It is estimated that 0.7-1% of the general population are afflicted with NPD. Most people with NPD (50-75%, according to the DSM) are men.

This jibes with my personal experience as I’ve known a few narcissistic types personally in my day and been exposed indirectly to many more in my years on line, and it seems to me that roughly nine out of ten… of at least the most vociferous and demanding of attention… have been males.

A narcissistic personality disorder as defined by the DSM (see DSM cautionary statement) is characterized by an all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria are considered necessary for the clinical diagnosis to be met:

    • Often feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates accomplishments, talents, skills, contacts, and personality traits to the point of lying, and demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements).  The person may be obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion.
    • The person with NPD may be firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions).  They often require excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation – or, failing that, wish to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply).
    • They often feel entitled, demanding automatic and full compliance with their unreasonable expectations for special and favorable priority treatment and may be “interpersonally exploitative”, i.e., use others to achieve his or her own ends.  They’re most often devoid of empathy and may even express pride in being so. Unable or unwilling to identify with, acknowledge, or accept the feelings, needs, preferences, priorities, and choices of others, they most often choose the path that is likely to bring the most attention to themselves.
    • They are often constantly envious of others and may seek minimize the accomplishments or situations of others, largely by directing attention away from those others and to themselves or attempting to marginalize or even hurt or destroy the object of their frustration. Can suffer from persecutory (paranoid) delusions as they believe that others feel the same about them and are likely to act similarly.  He or she may behave arrogantly and haughtily actually feeling superior, omnipotent, omniscient, invincible, immune, “above the law”, and omnipresent (magical thinking). May anger quickly when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted by people he considers inferior to him or otherwise unworthy.

If you take a good look around you today you start to realize that virtually any and all positions of authority, influence or power are being filled by people who display an inordinate number of those symptoms.  Many of the so called movers and shakers in the “blogosphere” and on the social networks… I could name at least two prime examples from my own limited circle of experience on Twitter alone… display many of the major symptoms.

A certain amount of Narcissism is a requirement for anyone who intends to spend their existence in the public eye, but never in our history has it been carried to the pathological extremes we see today.  This kind of personal self obsession… especially among those we choose to lead us… is a sickness that borders on a a deadly pandemic.  If ever you want to express a death wish just choose a pathological narcissist to act in your interests.  Mitt Romney was a perfect example of virtually everything I’ve described in this post and his election would have been tantamount to instant suicide for the working classes and while I’m not about to risk the wrath of the O-bots by suggesting that even their beloved Messiah suffers from his own version of the syndrome, I will state without reservation that most of the people he has chosen to surround himself with do.

Our media has become the laughing stock of the planet because the entire function of providing information to the public been taken over by pathological narcissists whom Wall Street can control simply by adroit manipulation of their overblown sense of self worth.  Why else would someone like Chuck Todd have risen to a position of responsibility in any news organization?  How else would people like Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin even have jobs in our society or a bloated hog like Rush Limbaugh make millions by simply pimping institutional hate to the ignorant masses?

We’ve truly allowed the inmates to get control of the asylum folks and in doing so we’ve taken the punch line right out of that stale old joke.  When it actually becomes an asylum, as this country has today, it’s no longer a joke but merely another inescapable truth.  Politicians don’t seek office to serve the American people, they seek office as a means of obtaining what they feel is rightfully theirs by virtue of their innate superiority to the rest of us.  The day we finally get that through our heads and stop looking at politics as some kind of junior grade popularity contest between competing personality cults is the day we finally start doing something about the situation we all profess to abhor.  Until then we’re just fodder for enhancing the self esteem of a the 1% and their overly pampered lap dogs.

Sayonara Suckers!

In the beginning, God created the Earth and he stocked it with enough materials and natural resources for its population to live to all live on it together… if not exactly soft life in all cases… at least a reasonably decent one.

Today the 85 (yeah, 85, 15 less than 100) richest people own more of the planets wealth and resources than the entire poorest 3.5 BILLION (uh huh, with a “B”) people… HALF the world’s population… combined. In other words, they have Hoarded more than half of the resources that were put there for all of us for themselves, taking it out of circulation and storing it in places where it will not have to be shared with anyone.

I have found nothing in my New Testament… nothing in the teachings of Jesus Christ… that would indicate that either the creator or the savior intended it to be that way or that these 85 people are… as some of them have outright claimed… doing “God’s work”.

I find the amazing thing about all this to be the number of ORDINARY people who not only see nothing wrong with it but are more than willing to play a smaller version of the game themselves, hoarding their own nickles and dimes… at least until the sharks at the top of the food chain get around to them and then it too will be gone like a fart in a whirlwind. For some reason, the middle glass still honestly believes that as soon as the poor, the disabled, the elderly have all been dispatched to the poor house or the debtor’s jail or the cemetery… that those same 85 people won’t be coming for the middle class itself next.

That’s the way it works in shark city. First you eat all the little fish. The helpless little minnows that spend so much of their energy just trying to survive they have no strength left over to fight back. Not a lot of meat on a minnow granted but there ARE millions of minnows and all those morsels add up to a pretty good meal before it’s done.

At that point, the middle fish have a choice to make. They can join with the millions of little fish and put things back to rights and insure once again that there’s enough that even if we can’t all be rich, nobody has to go homeless and hungry… or they can toady up to the sharks, counting on them dropping enough crumbs so that the middle fish can continue to live their comfortable little suburban lives with minimum disruption to their ball games, car races and cheapjack reality TV shows as possible.

Believe me, middle class Americans have never had to think too long or hard about which side of THAT equation they wanted to be on. During the 80s and 90s, they managed to make a pretty comfortable living herding little fish into the jaws of the Great Whites on Wall Street in return for their own pristine little lives continuing to run as smoothly as possible. All of a sudden, people who had themselves been raised for at least part of their lives on public assistance… indeed some who until a relatively short time earlier had themselves been raising their own kids with the assistance of the taxpayers… now that it was time to start giving some of it back… suddenly became real righteous about whose money that was and how they earned it and nobody was “entitled” to it but them.

Of course it didn’t help the sudden case of cognitive balloon gas that overwhelmed the senses of your average working class right wing American that at literally every juncture in their mundane little lives there was a Wall Street propagandist more than ready to reinforce the dogma should the faithful begin to falter. They permeated the government, the media, the universities… indeed it was virtually impossible to go for more than a waking hour in any given day without seeing some childishly scribbled misspelled poster or hear some snake oil peddling bought and paid for politician or see some broken down old has been “celebrity” mumbling, “The poor are your enemies. Kill the poor. The poor are your enemies. Kill the poor”.

So they joyously swam around herding the minnows into great shoals and schools where they would be easy pickings for the big dudes and sucking up their crumbs in some kind of weird parody of the shark’s own feeding frenzy and every two, four or six years voted faithfully to renew the patina of respectability emanating from free elections in

But eventually there comes a day when all the little fish have been picked clean. Between the big fish and their middle sized lackeys, they’ve picked those minnows right down to the bare bones, nothing but a bunch of fishy looking little skeletons kinda just drifting around sinking into the primordial ooze. And there’s this weird thing about sharks, you see. They don’t quit being hungry just because the appetizers are all gone. And suddenly the middle sized fish look up at the big fish dons and capos standing there with these little smirks on their faces and they say, “That was great! Who do we go after next, boss?”. “Boss?” “BOSS????”

And that’s when the little tiny light bulb flashes a couple of times in their middle sized fishy heads and they look around to see who the sharks are eyeballing behind them with that hungry look on their faces and there ain’t nobody there. At that point, some of the more literary minded mind find themselves feeling a little “Hemingwayed” as in “Ask not for whom the dinner bell tolls chump. That’s right, it tolls for you.”.

First stage of course, is denial. If the American middle class is good at any one thing above all others it’s denial. They can deny louder and longer than perhaps any other species in the known universe. A shark could gnaw half of one of their legs off and they’d still be denying it was happening. Then comes. “It must be some kind of mistake. They wouldn’t do that to me after all the compromising and ass kissing I’ve been doing this past thirty three years.

That’s the stage we’re in now. They still think all they have to do is send a couple of stern tweets or threaten to vote for someone else three years down the road and the members of that wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries we call our government will do an instant 180 and elect to starve to death (or at least go back to having to live within the means of someone of their arrested mental development) rather than eat the other leg. Right. THAT’S gonna happen.

Nope my middle class friend… you might as well change your name to lunch because your former buddies are still hungry and there ain’t nobody left out there but you. And as I’ve said before, I can’t be sure I’m not going to enjoy… at least just a little bit… seeing you drifting down into the muck here at the bottom of the pond and hearing you crying to the bitter end that it can’t be happening to you because your the MIDDLE CLASS goddammit.

What your forgetting is that once you’ve helped eliminate the lower class, you automatically BECOME the lower class and the only ones that are going to survive the continuing feeding frenzy are those 85 people we spoke about at the top of this piece and they already have it divided up among themselves. Sayonara, sucker!

What Makes Us Hated & Reviled By The Rest Of The Civilized World?

CLUE: It ain’t our freedoms.  Most 1st world countries have more of those than we do these days: A good part of it, as displayed by these folks in South Africa, is the attitude displayed by entitled pieces of shit like these guys, that says they should be able to go to any other country, in packs like this, and display their dubious manhood by ambushing and murdering endangered species.  I suppose they had a big Viagra party back at the hotel that night?

Remember, rich, entitled old fat white dudes like this are the only Americans most people in other countries will ever see.  Are you OK with them representing YOU?

Still More Facebook Ramblings

This isn’t as easy as it looks.  Most of my family and friends are Republicans, ranging from fairly moderate to outright Tea Party radicals.  Posts that aren’t unsubstantiated attacks on the POTUS or shots alleged freeloaders, “welfare queens” and all the usual targets for Tea Party “outrage” tend to fall into the usual “I managed to get up this morning” report, the latest new way to tell you what day of the week it is, a complete rundown on every ache and pain that has afflicted the poster since the last aches and pains report at most a couple of hours previous, the almost obligatory report on the latest cute thing the pet has done plus everything you ever wanted to know about what the poster is doing, is going do do and has done, again since the last release of vital statistics issued at intervals dependent on whatever point in his or her life the poster decides to stop doing what he or she is doing and do something else.

Nothing wrong with any of it and if any of you think you see yourself in that paragraph don’t take it personally.  I do it myself and it’s what (you’re supposed to think) Facebook is for.  Hard to believe Zuckerberg became a billionaire simply by providing a place to do all that but then most of us know that’s not the information he makes his real money from anyway, right?

Anyway, items that might possibly be of even minimal interest to folks other than your immediate circle can be kinda like chicken teeth to find sometimes.  I may have to make Grumpy Cat reposts a regular feature on the really slow days.

Probably gonna get me accused of hating our troops in certain circles but I’m way beyond caring at this point. More Facebook Ramblings

Just think of them as Tweets that don’t fit the Twitter Page.

A compendium… always wanted to use that word… of disconnected… OK, disjointed… alright dammit! Totally uncoordinated and massively rambling posts from my Facebook front page.  I like Twitter and absolutely loathe Mark Zuckerberg and his contribution to the cloak and dagger Government Scared Shitless Of It’s Own Citizens regime we’ve got going on but sometimes 140 characters is a laughingly small limit when you’re really pissed off.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Today’s Veteran of the Day is Jan Northstar who recently retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. (1983-2013). Jan served as a Public Affairs Officer.  She is also the regional public  relations  director  for V.A. in  Atlanta, Ga.   Thank you for  your  continued service, Jan!

NorthstarI follow the VA’s Facebook page and have for a couple of years now.  I read all and share many  of these and in many cases add my thanks to the thousands of others that are posted by grateful citizens all across the country.

Tonight marked a first for me.  A group of people appeared to actually have taken offense to this lady having been named in today’s post as vet of the day.  The reason given by the snerd that started it all off was apparently that she had not served a combat deployment which somehow disqualified her from calling herself a veteran and being honored by the VA. There are lots of people that have been honored on that page who haven’t served in a combat role so my curiosity was naturally piqued.

The derogatory posts had been removed by the time I got there but from what was left of the other 1900+ comments I was able to glean some small glimmering of what had occurred.  I was able to determine that the majority of posters had come to her defense as I, perhaps naively, would expect anyone calling themselves a “real” American to do and the few that chose to try to detract from her honor did so… as nearly as I can see… out of some kind of pique.  Pique over what I have no idea but given what we’re seeing in this country today until I see differently I have my own personal guess.  As usual, when I tried to ascertain what was different about her case from those of the many other non-combat vets that had appeared, there were no answers from those who had made the original negative posts and since I hesitate to indulge in unsupported conjecture I’ll just drop it right there.  While most of the “controversial” posts no longer exist you can check the basic story for yourself on Facebook by checking the VA Vet of the Day post for this date.

Tom Bales Yeah, forgot that for a moment. I’m older than you guys and never thought I’d see a congress with an approval rating of… what is it now 7% or something?… strutting around totally useless but still running their mouths like they were worth a pinch of monkey shit and anyone gave a rodent’s rosy red rectal orifice what they had to say.

  • You guys that insist on throwing out an entire social safety program, because your second cousin’s mothers uncle’s dog groomer allegedly saw some gal at Walmart buying ice cream with her food stamps… you DO realize that when your congresspimp voted to chop food stamps for all those frauds and phonies that dominate the program… almost 1.8% at last count… he/she was also voting to chop them for the millions of honest people simply down on their luck and thousands of active military as well as no telling how many vets for whom they were huge part of all that stands between them and going hungry 24/7. As a small town kid growing up in the fifties, during the spirit that emerged after 30 years of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl and WWII, I never thought I’d live to see this. Times ain’t all that are a changin’..

This one is from my oldest friend Tony.  We agree on just about nothing political.  Except this.  This is the one subject on which we unfailingly come together.  Of course he thinks it’s all the fault of those sneaky Liberals while I, being the highly enlightened and discerning observer that I am, realize that they’re all in it together on their luxury yacht, the USS Wall Street,  just as we serfs are all in the leaky lifeboat that’s all the DC pimps and Whores have left for us, the USS F**k You.  But what can I do?  He’s even more hardheaded and stubborn than I am.

Jesus’ Word? It Ain’t Rocket Science Folks

December 12, 2013 at 10:27am

For many, the holiday season that begins on Thanksgiving, revolves around Christmas and ends with the New Year is a spiritual time in which we supposedly honor Jesus Christ  the man AND the son of God and for me it was always more about the man Himself than the myriad of images that have been put forth by the massive number organized Christian sects, the members of each believing there’s is the only “true” faith.

I found it very simple, really.  Jesus was a good man who lived His life in an exemplary manner and if we truly want to honor Him all we have to do is live our lives in the manner in which He lived His.  That’s all.  Nothing else is required.  We don’t need 10 million dollar church “campuses” and we don’t need ostentatious displays of piety with which to pillory our perceived “enemies” as Godless.  All we need is to live our lives as Jesus lived His.

We don’t need the Pat Robertsons and the Jerry Farewells and the Jimmy Swaggarts, or anyone else who has become hugely wealthy peddling their interpretations of what Jesus said or wants us to do (nearly all of whom include sending THEM tons of money as a major component) because Jesus Himself told us all of those things and more.

Need to know how best to deal with a situation?  it’s as simple as opening your Bible, learning what Jesus did in a similar situation and then doing that.  Jesus didn’t equivocate.  He didn’t talk in riddles and change His story to suit his audience.  His piety didn’t end at the front door of his bank.  His message was ever one and the same and left no room for doubt in the mind of anyone who truly wished to emulate HIM.

Those of you who profess to be of the “one true faith” because you show up on Sunday and put money in the plate after a week of condemning the poor for being poor, the sick for being sick and the elderly for being old and worst of all, claiming you do those things in the name of and according to the teachings of Jesus Christ?

Well, let’s just say that you’ll deserve everything that’s going to happen to you when the day comes to finally sort out who honored Him and who didn’t.  I personally have no problem sorting out who’s who.  I may not get into heaven but it won’t be because I spent my life attacking those Jesus spent his defending.  Everything you need to know to be a good Christian is right there in Matthew in the Parable of the Sheep and Goats:

Matthew 25:31-40-31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.  34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

There.  Do you get it now?  If you don’t I suppose you never will   As for those pesky goats and what happens to them when it comes time to be measured, I’m going to assume that if you really care what the Bible says instead of what Bill O’Reilly says, you’ll look it up yourself.

That’s it folks.  Nothing else is required.  He doesn’t set one race or one nation above another, He doesn’t preach hatred for those of other faiths, He doesn’t ask us to spread his word by roaming around the world blowing people up and taking their stuff… He simply asks us to treat one another decently, as we would ask to be treated ourselves.  Those of you who insist on changing or adding to his words, by merely presuming you have any right to do so, demean and dishonor his name.  There’s no sin in being poor, no sin in being old, no sin in being lame or sick.  The sin is in claiming that the poor, the old, the lame and the sick are somehow less in the eyes of God and Jesus Christ than you are and don’t deserve the same consideration you feel is your due.  I draw my line right there.
