Radio host Rush Limbaugh will soon be honored in the Missouri Statehouse with a bust in the Hall of Famous Missourians. Limbaugh, a Missouri native whose show is losing advertisers after he verbally attacked Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke on air, will join the likes of Walter Cronkite and Mark Twain. Leann Hager, a legislative assistant with Missouri Speaker Steven Tilley (R), told the Huffington Post that Tilley had chosen Limbaugh along with Dred Scott, a slave who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom in the 1857 Supreme Court case Dred Scott v. Sandford, and baseball legend Buck O’Neil as inductees for this year.
Sculptor Spencer Schubert posted images of Limbaugh and Scott on his blog in February, asking, “What do these two guys have in common you ask? Well, turns out that they are both in the process of being sculpted by E. Spencer Schubert for the Hall of Famous Missourians in the Missouri State Capital.”
OK. What do you say about this one? That a Republican politiwhore would propose such a thing actually should come as no surprise I guess. I mean hell, we name aircraft carriers after people who have busted their asses to destroy democracy in this country so a bust in some public building is actually no big deal. But Rush “I’m a Nazi” Limbaugh?
The first thing you might want to do is ask what the everloving $#@k this sonofabitch has ever done that he should be “enshrined” in anything other than a museum of total assholery. I have been following his career since he started regional out here in California and I can’t see that this pompous pig has ever done a goddamned thing that has been of any benefit to society or that he has any redeeming social value whatever.
But I suppose it’s to be expected. He has after all, probably garnered more attention for himself and the State of Missouri than anyone since Harry Truman and in his own scummy little way is probably as famous as HST himself. You can damned well bet that more people today can tell you who Rush Limbaugh is than who Harry Truman was.
We’ve reached the point where instead of condemning racist sexist pigs who preach hate and spew venom all over the airwaves we actually “enshrine” them so future generations can worship at their feet.
Fascism is not coming to America people… when you can bestow these kinds of honors on the people who are, day by day, bringing it to you, it’s already here and you had better get used to the idea of the National Socialist States of America, because it’s what you’re leaving to your kids. Pretty %$#king sorry legacy if you ask me.
